You have to hire Mateen to officiate your wedding. Not a lot of officiants have the ability to make a ceremony meaningful but also fun at the same time. Mateen did just that. My wife and I were nervous to be standing up there on the altar, so we asked Mateen if he could help calm our nerves by just being him and making the ceremony fun. We didn’t want a boring and super serious ceremony as a lot of people have for their wedding. When we saw that Mateen is also a comedian, we didn’t look anywhere else for an officiant. He was our guy. He provided us with incredibly thoughtful words to take on with our marriage and also made us laugh while doing it. We can’t thank him enough. You’re the best Mateen!

Booking and communication was nearly immaculate with Mateen. However, I do have some concerns. It’s a bit interesting that he advertises himself as a comedian, but unfortunately told no jokes at my birthday event. Before the event: I thoroughly informed Mateen of my vision with each game. I had a strong inclination that none of my notes were written down, and none of the games he was scheduled to host were reviewed prior to the event. How do I know this - a lot of the recited answers weren’t pronounced correctly. I also informed him that I typically host my own games - as a matter of fact, one of the answers to the questions was that my dream job is to be a TV Show Host. Any comedian could have easily played on that fact about me and allowed me to help host some of the games or at least give me the mic to share the correct answers. Many of my 60 guests complained of his speediness in rushing through the games & cutting me off when I tried to add some flavor to the conversation. I honestly felt that he did not care to be there and was only in it to collect his money and get out of there. This is an honest and raw review.

This review is baseless and inaccurate and frankly quite ridiculous. I was given only one hour to complete a litany of activities, including:    •   A 16-question quiz (which had to be repeated multiple times due to the busy, loud patio setting).    •   A roast and toast.    •   A “get to know you” scavenger hunt.    •   Four rounds of bingo!!! There was no microphone provided when I arrived, and I had to ask the venue to supply one. I also informed the client ahead of time that two hours would be needed to execute everything smoothly, but was told that wasn’t in the budget. I still did my best to complete all of the requested games within the time allotted. As for the claim that I didn’t make jokes — that is simply false. Jokes and humor were included throughout the event, though it may have been difficult for the client to notice as she frequently interrupted while I was trying to run the program. In the end, it seems the only way this client would have been satisfied is if she had hosted the event herself. Regardless, I take pride in the effort and professionalism I brought under less-than-ideal circumstances.

Mateen was wonderful. He made sure our special day went as smoothly as possible. From officiating our ceremony to keeping the dance floor busy - all of our guests were thoroughly entertained by his music selection and light-hearted comedy. Very easy to work with, definitely recommend!
