My name is Eram [Eh-Ra], and I have dedicated the last four decades of my life to music in a multitude of roles, including that of a multi-instrumentalist performer, conductor, composer, craftsman/ instrument builder, and above all, a passionate teacher. It was through my role as a teacher that I became intimately familiar with the piano's intricate mechanics and learned to detect faults when impeding performers' expression. A well-tuned piano is a prerequisite for a student's proper technical development and ear training; sadly, that is rarely the case.
Everyone understands that maintaining the engine is a non-negotiable condition of owning a vehicle. Then why do we scoff at the idea that a piano is equally a finely-tuned machine requiring regular maintenance? Consider that an engine may have anywhere between 200 and 2,000 moving parts, while a typical piano has around 10,000!
My service starts with tuning and necessary adjustments to bring each piano up to my stringent standards. My success depends on the overall condition of the instrument and the owner's willingness to approve additional work, as repairs and replacements, if needed.
Lastly, while doing your due dilligence to find the right person for your piano maintenance needs, beware of endless lofty and unverifiable claims. While most of my competitors are genuinely honorable professionals whose rankings and reviews speak for themselves, some, unfortunatley, are neither. The ones whose claimed clientelle stretches from Adam and Eve all the way to Spongebob Squarepants, also tend to bad mouth other businesses with equal creativity.
