About
Please only contact serious inquiries only Mark, an award wining film composer and experienced instructor of composition, orchestration, guitar, piano, and ukulele, tailors fun, personalized lessons for students aged 5 to 100, including those with special needs. His students, who often study with him for 3–4 years, pursue music as a career, hobby, or therapy. He emphasizes enjoyment, ear training, theory, and technical musicality. “I really try to teach the instrument in a fun way especially with kids but also at the same time I encourage musicality including ear training, theory and an understanding of what makes good music in terms of a technical point of view. Having fun and enjoying what you are doing is the best way to learn an instrument.” Mark studied classical theory, harmony, and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music for two years before earning a B.A. in Film Scoring and Composition from the fabled Berklee College of Music, mentored by renowned classical composer John Bavicchi. He was also featured in Guitar World Magazine’s Mike Varney Home Town Heroes column for his guitar compositions. In 2025, Mark so far has won five festival awards for his score in the action/crime feature film Escobank, including Best Composer at the Paris Art & Film Awards and Best Score at the Pisa Cinema Carnival International Film Festival. He also received the Work of Excellence Trophy at the Buenos Aires International Film Festival, where he was a finalist for Best Score. These achievements highlight his talent and promise in the industry.

My son David is 16 and has autism. I hired Mark to teach David piano 3 years ago and I have say, Mark has been a fantastic, incredibly patient and attentive teacher. Mark would work with David a way that David would feel comfortable and understand that you don’t need to play perfect every time and that paying wrong notes is ok and part of the learning process. I would highly recommend Mark as he is not only incredibly talented and knowledgeable but has great personality.

He tailors the sessions to my interest and encourage me to push my abilities . Now I’m able to read music and play a list of my fav songs . I recommend Mark to anyone who wants to learn piano .

Worked with my altering schedules. Always responsive to not only the lesson for the day, but individual items that interested me that I wanted to know and add to my learning. Always personable and professional. Excellent instructor. At this point I don't think I could ever use another instructor.
