FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a pet fee that ranges from $25-$100. Most likely the deep cleaning or first time standard cleaning pet fee will be $50, standard clean recurring pet fees $25, and if we have a home with an excess of pet hair or other pet related messes, the fee can fall between $50-$100. Detailed descriptions and photos go a long way in determining which price is most accurate. Aside from that, I like to offer a 15% discount for weekly cleaning service and 10% for bi weekly cleaning service. **Important to know, I do have a $100 last minute cancellation fee for any cancellations or reschedules that do not give notice at least 48 hours ahead of their scheduled cleaning date. This is because when I block out a specific day for a customer, I keep the whole day available for them and if they cancel last minute I lose business that I count on and could otherwise have filled the day with if known ahead of time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer, gaining as much info about a home as possible up front goes a long way so we can customize our estimates to best fit their needs without charging any more than what’s absolutely necessary for their home. Transparency is key, so I prefer to send over a detailed estimate of exactly what we will be doing, along with pricing for each individual area so they can see exactly how their estimate was built. Next is scheduling, having flexibility to work with what’s most convenient for the customer. A day or two before the scheduled day of cleaning, I like to check in to confirm the details and I’ll message them again the day of to let them know I’m on the way.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was trained on how to properly clean very young, starting at the age of 11 in a very strict boarding school where daily jobs were a requirement. The jobs I was trained in range from commercial kitchen work (preparing food for hundreds of students and staff, serving and cleaning up far past health code standards and using industrial machinery to wash dishes), deep cleaning both girls and boys dormitories from top to bottom (to a white glove standard), working on a farm, cleaning the campus’s daycare, to even waxing and varnishing floors at age twelve. Since then, I have continued to keep this high standard practice of cleaning in many jobs I’ve had since. I’ve trained many employees to keep to the same high standard over the years as well. I’d been thinking about starting a cleaning business for several years and finally made the decision to do so, and here I am now. I started on my own, I’ve had a couple part time cleaning assistants join me on jobs and now I welcome a new highly skilled cleaner to my team - who was right by my side in those early years at boarding school, trained to the same standard as I was, right down to waxing those floors with me. We go back nearly 25 years and I couldn’t have a better partner join my team.
