FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I believe the best training is on the job training. I also attend seminars to learn new methods of prepping jobs such as using the schluter system.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began by helping my roommates down in Atlanta. They invited me to come and try working with their team to see if I would like doing their kind of work. They taught me to start from the bottom and work my way up. First, I was a grouter, and then I learned to prep the jobs. (there is a right way). After learning everything they knew, I decided to start my own team. I also brought my kids to work on the weekends. I am proud to say I have taught my daughters, my sons, and my wife to install. We have a family owned Tile business. My four sons can’t think of doing anything else. My daughters now do tile projects on their own, because they have their own families they are raising. Hopefully they continue the family business well into the future with their kids, and grandkids.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with commercial contractors installing tile in restaurants, Spas, Gas Stations, and Hotels. I’ve worked installing tile in some of the high rises downtown, I have also worked for homeowners directly. I have Subcontracted for other Tile Companies. I have worked in spec homes ( cookie cutter houses ), and I’ve worked directly with homeowner to remodel old spaces.
