I called Willow Ash with a problem concerning a third floor deck. My house is fairly new, but the third floor deck finish wasnt done properly and In the beginning, this company was awesome. The owner, Ryan, came out and listened to my original vision and came up with a solution on how to fix it and assured me that he would find product that would create the finish that I was looking for. He sent me a quote of $2,400 which I had no reason to question because according to their reviews this company is great. I was sent a link for a deposit which I paid immediately. Once a product was found, colors were picked and a date was set (setting a date took forever) they were able to get to work. The problems really began with his worker, Jose. Jose came out and sanded down the original finish and properly (?) graded the deck. When the initial product went down it was not the correct color but I was assured that if I wasnt happy once they were done, they would come back and lay another color on top. From here on out it took weeks to get the project finished. Whether or not Jose would show up was up to fate and I never knew if a guy I didnt really know was going to show up at my house as I was getting ready for work. Initially, we noticed that cracks were starting to appear even before the job was finished. I was assured of a solution. It took a while for this new product to get shipped, but Jose finally came back with another product to put down that apparently was supposed to fix the cracks for good. In the end, I hated the color, but was told that it would cost more $$ to change the color even after I was assured it would be no problem to lay another color on top. Once the job was done or so I thought, I came upstairs to find that epoxy was on door, the door knob, hardwood floors and walls of the deck itself. I complained so the owner sent Jose back out to fix it but to this day there is *still* epoxy on surfaces of my home. At this point, I have to admit I wasnt thrilled, but the job was done and I could finally enjoy my deck. I was assured BY THE OWNER that if cracks ever appeared he would come out and fix it no problem. When it came to actually paying the bill, he added on charges because the job took longer than expected. It was over $300 dollars more than the original quote and this was done without any communication. I disputed the extra amount because any delay in this project was certainly not because I was delaying the project seeing as how it was HIS worker doing the work. He did eventually change the bill so it was the original quoted amount and I paid under the assumption and assurance that any cracks would be addressed.Inevitably, months later the cracks started to appear. As time went on the cracks got worse, but I wasnt worried because the owner said he would fix them no problem. I called him and he actually seemed to care. He said he would research another product and send Jose out to fix. Of course, I never heard from him again. I called multiple times and was always told something different. Eventually, he basically asked me what the heck did I expect him to do? I kept a texting chain going and at times he would text and say could they come back to take a look, but when I responded I would never hear back. Eventually, I sent an email which received no response. I actually had a contractor come out and give me a product recommendation which I sent to Ryan at Willow Ash Roofing and he never responded again. My deck is still not fixed and looks way worse than it originally did. At this point, Ive been quoted the SAME amount to fix a deck that I paid to have refinished in the beginning. I am disappointed and frustrated.

Hi Sydnee, I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I’m not sure how long ago this was but just so you know, Willow Ash Roofing is under new ownership so that may have added to the communication issues if you were contacting the previous owner.

This has got to be the most unprofessional and shady business I've come across in my 71 years of life! I tried to get my roof replaced by them. There's been nothing but runarounds and delays. The contract is all one-sided. They wouldn't even confirm or provide a start and finish date. They don't have their own roofers. They rely on subcontractors. They don't tell you that.I should've saved my time and took the hint, from the beginning... how they're shady. My first sign was when they didn't call to cancel or show up for their roof inspection appointment. It took almost a month to reset it, after I made a point to complain. The second sign was when the roof inspection was just their foot in my door to get a job. They never showed me the roof inspection photos they supposedly took. The roof photos weren't sent via an email, as promised. There was never any discussion of the roof inspection. It went directly from an inspection without any follow-up or discussion, straight into job proposals. The inspection was just an opening for them to get a job lined up. Then it was like pulling teeth to get straight answers or the job done. It was always runaround, trying to get any relevant information, answers, concerns, or issues addressed. I've got numerous emails to prove it. I stopped trusting to discuss things over the phone when I couldn't lock down an answer. It got to the point of wanting everything in writing, through email discussion... because I couldn't rely on anything being said. They expected me to pick a roof plan without showing me any shingle samples! I was sent a shingle color chart, via an email and was expected to choose my roof shingles and colors by viewing them through an internet display. I didn't hear anything for two weeks after the chart of shingle colors was sent over the Internet. I had no idea they were actually expecting me to choose my roof that way! Then, out of nowhere, suddenly I was being rushed to decide on which roof to choose. I actually had to tell him that I needed to see samples! You would think that product samples would be automatically supplied! They do everything over the Internet, cheaply and carelessly. There's no courtesy, attention to details, or consideration... except to avoid any accountability on their part. No matter how many questions or concerns you bring up, only ONE 'easy' topic will get some attention to answer... and the rest will be ignored to keep chasing after, like a neverending runaround!I'm 70 years old, and this is how they treat the elderly. My roof is aged and vulnerable. It's been kept at risk of storms to cause damages... and my roof still is waiting to be replaced. What kind of roofing business makes you wait from October until January... with all kind of delay tactics? All they want is the 40% Down Payment Deposit... but they don't care about providing information about your concerns to proceed. They leave you slighted, confused, offended, and disrespected like some kind of fool. If you want a contract that ALSO considers your interests and protection in this costly transaction, forget about it with them. If I didn't know about business law, it wouldn't matter and my roof would've probably been replaced already. But the owner is shady, and too slippery to negotiate a fair, two-sided contract that enforces the customer's protection in writing. He says one thing and does another, like bait and switch. And that's what this has been, for the last three months.Tonight, I finally ended my misery dealing with this unprofessional, unethical, and shady business owner and roofing company. I'm sure he'll come back to respond, to save his face. But I have all the emails, in writing, to back up everything I'm saying here. So if there's anything I'm saying untrue, then try to sue me!!! Because I'm warning people of what I've experienced, as the kind of treatment I received as a disabled 70 year old senior citizen woman!
Willow Ash Roofing's reply
I'm not sure I understand what we did that you consider shady, considering we have never done business with you, nor accepted a single $1 from you.
We provided you a proposal to replace your roof in October, which you have never executed. We assumed you moved on to another contractor. Instead, after some time, we received a list of demands. I then worked with you and went back and forth to accommodate the demands that I was willing to and explain why I would not to some of the others. I then again did not hear from you and assumed that you decided to move on. Then I receive an email on Thursday asking what time I can be there on Friday. I told you that I could not make it the next day, as we are busy, but could be at your place personally on the following Wednesday. And then this. I feel as though we went above and beyond to try to accommodate your requests. Sorry if you feel different. Best of luck to you.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Adam and his team at Willow Ash Roofing, and I can't recommend them highly enough. From the very first interaction, Adam demonstrated exceptional responsiveness. I reached out with some concerns about my roof, and he got back to me quickly to schedule an inspection no long waits, didn't have to chase anyone down.Communication throughout the entire process was top-notch. With a roof being one of the bigger investments for homeowners, Adam helped engineer a plan to extend the life of my current roof, while also providing a plan and timeline of when to do a replacement in the future that is financially capable. To find a roofing company that is transparent about the longevity of your roof is crucial. They kept me informed at every stage, explained the issues clearly, and laid out all my options without any pressure. Its rare to find a company thats so transparent and easy to work with. When it came time for the actual work, the quality was outstanding. The crew was punctual, professional, and clearly experienced. They completed the job efficiently and left everything clean and tidy its clear they take pride in what they do. The repairs extend my roof's life and I look forward to working with them when they install my new roof in the coming future. If youre looking for a roofing company that combines excellent communication, fast response times, and superior craftsmanship, Willow Ash Roofing is the one to call.

Hi Quinn, we are glad that we have the opportunity to work with you on your short-term and long-term plans for your roof. After hearing that you guys have another child on the way (Congrats!) and talking through the long-term plans with your home, I think we came up with a great way to keep your family safe and dry in the interim and plan to take on a larger more permanent project next year. We enjoy working with clients to find the best solution, which isn't always immediate replacement. We look forward to working with you in the future!
