This job (tile repair in a bathroom) was more complex job than we originally thought but it was completed professionally and quickly. Alvarado did a great job in the bathroom of my rental house. It was an older home with a few challenges and he tore out old tile and repaired old wall studs and installed new board and tiled entire tub area and half wall all around the room in subway tile. He was always communicating with me and letting me know what was going on and was very continuous about his work.

Edward’s passion for the job and his creativity stood out during our interview. He answered all my questions thoroughly and had thoughtful suggestions. I took three bids. His was on par but not the lowest. I generally don’t take the lowest bid. My tile was tricky, with its narrow hexagonal shape and its thickness. He had to execute complicated and delicate cuts. The lot of black tile ended up being smaller than it should have been (manufacturing error) and he worked out a beautiful solution for hiding the flaw. My renovation contractor was impressed when he saw the finished product. He commented that the workmanship was excellent: perfectly straight runs. (He’s not one to dole out false praise.) The renovation and design process is not one I enjoy. But Edward Alvarado helped calm my nerves because I felt a trust and confidence in his abilities. The finished product has proven me right! I’ll be calling him next year when the old master shower receives a necessary overhaul. He also had to work around three dogs, one with fear-aggression issues, who kept up a regimen of regular barking and general canine noise in the next rooms over. He remains quite calm in the midst of chaos. Including weather challenges which interrupted his outdoor wet saw cutting. He finds ways to fill his time and stay productive right until the end. My kitchen project isn’t finished yet. The cabinets and walls remain to be painted. But the gorgeous tiling already tied it all together and helps me visualize the finished room.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Price is mostly based upon the measurements of the job site, however there are other factors that are considered. Price can vary depending upon the type of tile being installed, & the prep of the sub material. Sub material can sometimes be unleveled or damaged (holes, weak areas, ect). If the sub material is in poor condition, then it may need to be repaired or replaced prior to prep for the tile installation.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start with a meet and greet so I can provide a free estimate to ensure a fair & accurate consumer price. During this we can then discuss the start date and plan for the project.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was employed at a tile company years ago for quite a while. I really enjoyed doing this line of work, and obtained the knowledge & experience to make it a career. I branched out on my own and started Alvarado’s Tile Installation & Repair. I’m blessed to say it’s been a great decision.
