DBM Homes
DBM Homes is hands down the most unprofessional and dishonest contractor I have ever dealt with. Our project (a master bath and kitchen) was supposed to take 47 days. It has now dragged on for a year and is still not complete. My kitchen has been unusable this entire time, and for the first six months I couldn’t even live at the property because there was no working kitchen or bathroom—despite being told it would be fine to stay during construction .
The owner, Trish Cartwright, refuses to answer calls or texts and takes no responsibility for the chaos this company has created. We are leaving this review because we cannot get any response from her or her team. We have had three project managers leave the company, and employees keep quitting—several saying directly that they aren’t being paid the right amount or on time. The current project manager is even worse: he’s been with the company for a month, has only shown up for about two hours total, repeatedly lies about coming, and flat-out refuses to take accountability. He even claimed he “didn’t know drywall had been done” in my house, so apparently nothing is his problem.
The workmanship is absolutely awful. Tiles have been installed incorrectly, grout colors were wrong, surfaces were scratched or broken, and almost everything has had to be redone—sometimes multiple times. The cabinets are an even bigger disaster:
- First, they ordered the wrong doors. Instead of fixing the mistake, they had someone attempt to “remake” them.
- Then they were painted incorrectly, leaving a rough, cheap texture.
- Next, they were sanded down and repainted, but the sanding left them so uneven you could literally see waves across the surface.
- Their next “solution” was to nail a piece of plywood across the front as a facing, which was by far the worst attempt yet.
Over a month ago, they took the doors back and told us they were “working on them,” only for us to find out last week that the doors were completely ruined and unusable. Now, after stringing us along, they’ve admitted they must order new ones—which will take at least another 6 weeks. On top of this, they sprayed paint inside the cabinets, leaving a mess, and refuse to send anyone to fix it.
Additionally, they ruined the floors throughout the house because they did not properly protect them. When confronted, they stated that they thought I was replacing the floors, so it “didn’t matter.” This level of carelessness is unacceptable.
This company constantly makes excuses, takes shortcuts, and then tries to spin it as if they’re doing us a favor by correcting their endless mistakes. Instead of completing the job they were paid to do, they abandon the project for weeks at a time to chase new clients—because they clearly rely on new deposits to survive.
DBM Homes is untrustworthy, unprofessional, and completely incapable of delivering what they promise. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. If you hire them (which I strongly advise against), do not pay upfront—once they have your money, the project will stall, the excuses will pile up, and you’ll be left with stress, wasted time, and a wrecked home.
Will update if there is a resolution but unfortunately it looks like they are not even trying to.
Save yourself the nightmare—hire literally any other contractor .
