- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
What I Deliver No photo limits Most photographers give you a maximum photo count. The issue is this means there are photos you may absolutely adore that you’ll never receive. If the photo doesn’t have any obvious issues(out of focus, unflattering faces or blinking, lighting problems, etc.). you’ll receive it with the basic edits I do on every photo. Every photo receives edits Unless photos need to have zero alterations to color or lighting for the purpose you need them for, I will do basic color correct and lighting correction, along with my own style enhancements for every photo that is delivered to you. I will also never deliver watermarked high-resolution digital copies. I’m providing you photos, not advertisements for myself. I like to keep it simple All of my prices cover the time it takes to capture and edit the photos.I don’t offer any prints or photobooks anymore. The main reason, it’s way more expensive for you to have me do it than it is to do it on your own. This way I can offer a much better price to you for my services. It’s a very time consuming process to create and compose a photobook or an album, and there are so many companies out there that will do this for you for free or for a very low cost, so instead, I will ensure you have all the high quality files of the photos to make sure you can get the prints and books you desire. If you would like recommendations for the right places to get prints or books, feel free to ask me during or after your session for recommendations.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't judge them just by the words of others. Go take time to look at the work they have done, and take the time to call and talk or meet with them before making a decision. I’m not saying reviews aren’t helpful to find good photographers, but their portfolio really should be the primary factor. A photographer may have the best reviews in the world, but if their style doesn't mesh with what you are looking for, it's not a good fit. It's not just on you, though. The best way for a photographer to really know what a client needs, making sure they can deliver on what their clients want, is to take the time to meet or talk through ideas and ensure everyone is on the same page. Secondly, and more specific to events, the vast majority of photographers that offer videography and photography do one service really well, and one service "well enough." To ensure all aspects of your event are captured exactly the way you wish, find a specialist for video and a specialist for photos.
