FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Base quilting price is $0.02 per square inch for edge-to-edge all over pattern using customer-provided quilt top, batting, and backing. We can provide batting and/or backing for $.005 per square inch additional cost each using standard materials. All non-bound quilts are serge-stitched on all sides. We can bind the finished quilt for $0.10 per parameter inch additional cost. We do not charge for bobbin changes, thread color choice, or selected stitch pattern. If piecing your backing, the seam should run parallel to the top edge of the quilt. If using a sheet for the backing, make sure the hems are removed and pressed. NOTE: If you are using a sheet for the backing, the sheet should be a low thread count. High thread counts do not take stitches well. Hems and stitching should be removed, and they should be laundered and pressed. If you are furnishing batting, do not provide fusible batting. Fullness and/or puckers cannot be quilted out. Some fullness can be eased in, but cannot be guaranteed. In cases where excessive fullness occurs, the quilt corners may not be square once quilted. The flatter your quilt top lays, the better the finished quilt. Backing and batting sizes are top measurements + 3"-4" top, bottom, and both sides. Standard backing and/or batting price is square inch size times $0.005. Machine-binding price is $.10 per parameter inch. Special services are priced by the project. Our minimum project charge is $30.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Quilt top must be square within 1/4 of an inch. Check all seams; repair any open seams. When preparing for shipping, press quilt top first from the back to flatten all the seams; then press from the front. Remove stray threads. Mark top edge of quilt with a safety pin. Place quilt top, batting, and backing in a plastic bag before putting them in a shipping box. Do not fold top, batting, and backing together. You may use USPS, FedEx, or UPS to ship. Insure and track your package. We are not responsible for the package until it arrives. We will notify you when we receive your package. When finished your quilted item is returned via USPS Priority Mail. Pickup and delivery are available in the greater Houston area.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both Konoe and Don received training by Juki trainers. Attend several advanced training sessions. While Don is new to the world of fabric creations Konoe has 40+ years of sewing experience including quilting. Don's experience with computer programming and being a machine operator lets him understand a computer-driven longarm quilting machine.
