- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing Details: 30 min - $40 45 min - $45 60 min - $50 Ask me about my New Student Discount! Students may take classes up to 3 times per week or as little as once a month. Whatever fits your unique budget and schedule. The average lesson frequency is one 60 min lesson, once a week. However, I am confident that any of the time frames I’ve listed will get you to the results you’re looking for, especially if you practice outside of class. I accept Zelle (preferred), Venmo, the cash app, & PayPal 24 hour cancellation policy: Cancelations less than 24 hours in advance must be paid for. Students do have the option to make up the lesson later. But that lesson must be on top of a regular lesson schedule. So that usually looks like two lessons the next week instead of the usual 1, or one long lesson the length of two.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For my beginner students we always start with the three most important foundations for proper, healthy vocal technique: 1. Breathing 2. Placement 3. Locating Muscle Tension and Relaxing it Away We focus on these three foundations over the course of the first 3-4 lessons. The placements we cover during this time are: Head Voice, Mask Voice, and Chest Voice. Learning to get comfortable placing your voice in these three areas of your body are the absolute key to being able to sing in any genre of music. My goal is not to tell you WHAT to sing, but to teach you HOW to use your voice so that you can feel that any genre of music is available to you. After covering these preliminary techniques, we apply them to the students' favorite songs, expand their musical repertoire, and slowly start leveling up to more advanced and bonus areas of study. If a student has already had vocal training, or has an audition coming up in the very near future, we will customize a lesson plan that cuts out extraneous information and focuses directly on the students immediate needs/goals. One of my favorite parts of being a private instructor is the flexibility afforded to my students and I. Each student will have a unique journey when working with me, and they will always be encouraged to ask questions, make changes, and give suggestions to me. I have tons of experience with Audition Preparation, have developed a Stage Fright Survival Guide, and often have my students practice with microphones and blocking (movement) to make sure they are fully prepared for their performances. Whatever you’d like to learn, we can master it!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been taking voice lessons since age 12, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in Boston with a Bachelor of Music. I got my start in professional musical theater at age 12 in Washington D.C.s historical Ford’s Theater in their annual production of A Christmas Carol. I continued performing in professional and local musical theater until graduating high school. At Berklee College of Music I focused on song writing, and studied Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk, Celtic, and Electronic music. I started a Celtic Music band and we played together for 2 years. We toured through D.C. in the winter of 2014. After training under Ben Cantil of EDM duo Zebbler Encantee Experience, I became comfortable producing my own music in the Digital Audio Workshop called Ableton Live. I released my first Electronica EP titled PYKE in 2014. I met some incredible musicians my senior year at Berklee and we formed my original band, ORLA. We played all through the Boston venue circuit for two years and were fortunate enough to play in NYC at Silvana and Mercury Lounge on two separate occasions. I am still writing, recording, producing, and performing original ambient electronic music. I have performed my originals live as ORLA at events such as the Nü Androids New Years Eve Bash 2022/23 in Washington DC and FireFly Arts Collective Burn in Vermont Summer 2023. My original music can be found on all music streaming and purchasing platforms. My most recent EP called Transformation was released May 2019.
